Plan a Desaru Coast trip by sea around a Thursday-to-Sunday window. BatamFast's schedule with effect from 15 October 2026 has one boat a day in each direction on those four days, leaving Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal at 10:10 and Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal at 17:30, and nothing on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
Budget SGD 70 for a single or SGD 108 for a return, the operator's published Desaru fare for every age, and add the fuel surcharge of SGD 12 per passenger per sector that BatamFast has collected at boarding-pass collection since 14 March 2026. Leaving Desaru Coast, the surcharge can also be paid as RM40.
No clock change is needed on this route. BatamFast labels the 10:10 as Singapore time and the 17:30 as Malaysia time, and both countries are on UTC+8.

Singapore dollars, with fuel charged apart
The SGD 70 single and SGD 108 return on BatamFast's fare page cover the ticket, a surcharge, Singapore's SGD 10 passenger departure fee and the SGD 10 Desaru Coast terminal fee, and they are the same for adults and children.
Fuel is charged separately. BatamFast's notice of 13 March 2026 sets SGD 12 per passenger from Singapore to Desaru Coast and SGD 12 or RM40 from Desaru Coast to Singapore, payable when the boarding pass is collected. An online quote taken on 28 October for a 29 October single already listed fare SGD 50, surcharge SGD 10, departure fee SGD 10 and fuel SGD 12, totalling SGD 82, so look at your booking summary before paying the surcharge again at the counter.

The Changi side and the Kota Tinggi side
This is an international trip between Singapore and Malaysia, so carry your passport. The published fare already includes the Singapore departure fee and the Desaru Coast terminal fee, each SGD 10.
Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal
The Malaysian end of the route is the ferry terminal at Desaru Coast, in Kota Tinggi district. BatamFast gives its 17:30 departure from here in Malaysia time, and the Desaru Coast terminal fee of SGD 10 is already inside the published fare.
Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal
In Singapore the Desaru boat uses Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, not HarbourFront, where many of BatamFast's Batam sailings start. Passengers who have checked in online should reach the pre-immigration gate with a boarding pass at least 30 minutes before the 10:10 departure, the operator's FAQ says.
Tanah Merah to Desaru Coast on the map
The pins mark Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal at Changi and the Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal in Kota Tinggi district, Johor. BatamFast publishes neither a distance nor a crossing time for this route on its schedule pages, so none is given here.
Getting across the border with time to spare
- Passport, not paper ticket
BatamFast issues e-tickets without a paper copy. At the check-in counter you show your travel document and collect the boarding pass for the Desaru Coast sailing.
- Thirty minutes at the gate
With online check-in, the operator wants you at the pre-immigration gate, boarding pass in hand, at least 30 minutes before departure to keep the reservation and seat.
- Help on board needs a companion
Since 18 June 2026 BatamFast requires passengers who need continuous personal assistance to travel with a companion, and asks them to contact the company before booking.
- Three months ahead
BatamFast's FAQ says its online schedule opens three months in advance, which covers the Thursday-to-Sunday Desaru boats as well.
- Children pay the adult fare
The Desaru Coast fare applies to every age group. The booking form still asks for children under 12 to be entered separately.
BatamFast's other crossing to Johor
Besides its Batam sailings from HarbourFront and Tanah Merah, BatamFast Ferry Pte Ltd, a Singapore-registered company, lists two Malaysian destinations from Tanah Merah: Desaru Coast and Tanjung Pengelih.
The Pengelih boat runs on Saturdays and Sundays only, at 08:30 from Tanah Merah and 16:00 back, for SGD 43 single or SGD 73 return plus a SGD 6 fuel surcharge per sector. It lands at Tanjung Pengelih, a different Johor terminal from Desaru Coast, so check the destination name before you pay.
